My Multiple Literacies
The multiple literacies in my life include reading, writing, speaking, and listening. My main mediums for these literacies are online sources such as myspace and facebook, but I also experience these at school. These function in my relationships with others in that they are the ways that I both establish and maintain all kinds of relationships. I use myspace and facebook to connect with people from my past, who I otherwise would probably have lost contact with completely. These relationships range from friendships to possible networking opportunities, which I feel is important in today's society. Most of my writing and speaking happens at school in my classes. I talk to my friends and instructors, I listen, I write, and I read. These function in my personal relationships in some obvious ways, like speaking is important to relate to those around me, and the others are important to remaining in good standing with my school. I write everything from essays, reviews, reflections, lesson plans, BLOGS, and notes. I read textbooks for school, but I do also read for leisure. Reading affects my relationships becuase I feel that the more I read, the more I know and learn, and the more I know, the better I can converse with others in an interesting way. Basically, to wrap this up, multiple literacies amount to the multiple ways that we interact with people, so the multiple literacies in my life help me to do this in the most effective way for me.
